Universal Genève is a Swiss manufacturer founded in 1894, best known for its Compax chronographs. This piece represents the other soul of the Maison: the dress watch, thin and elegant, designed for the shirt cuff rather than for sports.
THE PIECE
The reference 842122/03 identifies a steel case (first number, 8) with caliber 42 (middle numbers), white dial with Roman numerals (suffix /03) — the variant that Universal Genève called the "Roman Dial." The movement serial number, 2,654,757, places production in the early 1970s.
Round steel case, 31 mm in diameter — an elegant and slim size according to the standards of the era, smaller than today's dress watches: those looking for a substantial size will not find what they are looking for here, but those who love a vintage touch will.
Original domed plexiglass crystal, with the slight curvature typical of 1970s dress watches.
White lacquered dial with black Roman numerals and baton hands. The Universal Genève logo is clearly legible, with the SWISS inscription at 6 o'clock.
MOVEMENT
Universal Genève caliber 42, manual-wind, 17 jewels, ultra-thin (2.45 mm thick), 21,600 vibrations/hour, power reserve of approximately 43 hours.
The watch keeps time accurately: when wound regularly, it runs without significant deviation. It was checked in our workshop before being displayed in our showcase.
CONDITION — WE TELL IT LIKE IT IS
A vintage watch with over fifty years of history, in good overall condition: intact case, clean dial with no spots, original hands. Scratches on the crystal are visible in the photos; there is the possibility of having it replaced.
The original black lizard-effect leather Universal strap is in good condition.
Sold without box and without original papers.
A dress watch meant to be worn, not a showpiece.

On a mechanical watch of this age, the timing may deviate slightly over time from its current performance: this is normal for a vintage watch and should be taken into account even after a positive check like this one.
It is not a waterproof watch for daily use in water: avoid contact with water and humidity.
